What the IMC process tests

An online assessment block, about a week to complete: NeurOlympics cognitive games plus timed tests.
Timed mental arithmetic: two-digit multiplication, percentages, fast number work.
Sequences and pattern recognition as an explicit section, plus numerical and diagrammatic aptitude.
Basic probability under time pressure.
The Super Day: interviews on expected value and market intuition, and a trading game where you quote markets on event outcomes, size them and defend the risk.

Warm up on the real thing

Timed arithmetic: 27 × 33

891. Difference of squares around 30: 30² − 3² = 900 − 9. Two-digit products with a friendly midpoint are the bread and butter of their arithmetic section.

Sequences: 16, 24, 36, 54, ?

81. Each term is 1.5× the previous one. Their pattern section mixes ratios like this with second differences and interleaved chains.

Trading game: a player wins about 60% of her matches against today's opponent. Quote a market on 100 × P(she wins).

Fair around 60: quote something like 58 bid at 62 ask. Then expect the follow-ups: why that width, what size, and what news would move your number. Recalling and defending your own quotes is exactly what they grade.
