What the Maven Securities process tests

A mental math test: 50 questions in 5 minutes.
A sequences test: 30 questions in 6 minutes. You must pass both halves.
Short probability, numerical patterns and brainteasers on expectation, conditioning and logical inference.
A video interview on your thinking.
Technical rounds: a brainteaser that turns into a market-making game around its answer, usually on cards.

Warm up on the real thing

50-in-5 pace: 17 × 18

306. 17 × 18 = 17 × 18; take 17 × 20 = 340 and subtract 17 × 2 = 34. Splitting into a round number minus a correction is the fast route on their screen.

Sequences test: 1, 2, 6, 24, 120, ?

720. The multipliers climb 2, 3, 4, 5, 6: these are the factorials. Spotting a growing ratio instead of a fixed one is the tell their sequences test rewards.

Card market making: you will be paid the sum of 3 cards drawn (Ace = 1 up to King = 13). Where is the fair value?

7 per card, so 21 for three. The mean card is (1 + 2 + ... + 13)/13 = 91/13 = 7, and expectation adds, so three cards are worth 21. That fair value is the center you quote your market around.
