What the Flow Traders process tests

A timed arithmetic screen on integers, decimals and fractions (versions reported as 80 questions in 8 minutes or 60 in 6), multiple choice with four options, scored +1 / −1, pass around 60 percent. Practice that exact format here, including the shortcuts that pick the right option without finishing the sum.

Warm up on the real thing

Six-second pace: 36 × 0.75

27. Three quarters of 36. Reading 0.75, 0.25, 0.125 as fractions instead of multiplying digits is most of the speed on their decimal questions.

Sequences test: 4, 9, 19, 39, ?

79. Each term is double the previous plus one. Differences (5, 10, 20) double, which is the tell for a 2x + c rule. Their sequence section mixes arithmetic, geometric and affine rules like this one.

Case-study intuition: an ETF trades at 101.20 while its basket is worth 101.00. Creating a unit at value costs 0.05 in fees. What do you do?

Sell the ETF, buy the basket, create to deliver: 0.15 locked in. Sell at 101.20, buy the underlying for 101.00, pay 0.05 to create the share you owe, keep 101.20 − 101.00 − 0.05. Creation-redemption arbitrage is the core mechanic their ETF case study builds on.
